I found this author by chance but I have to say I enjoyed her book. It is not a great book but it is a cute read. Lot's of humor and charm. I think you would enjoy the read.Jade Delarue is a real witch. Her husband disappeared six yrs ago and now he is being declared dead and she will get his insurance in the amount of a million dollars. She has recently done a spell for a woman named Brenda, who ultimately leaves her fiance at the alter. So Jade does a spell for him to find true love, because she does no harm as a witch. At the same time she does a spell for herself because she is lonely after six yrs. But the spirits have their own agenda, and because of an ill wind the candles she lights melt togather.
Mason Kincaid is the jilted fiance, he is also an investigator, so guess who the insurance company calls on to check her out and find out if the husband is really dead. Yep!! Mason. Mason, while not being devestated by his jilting, is not looking to fall in love in the immediate future. But those pesky spirits put the one woman who can light his fire, right in his path.
I thought it was so cute and the secondary characters were great and it seems they will have their own stories. A good afternoon read.

Lyle Thomas is thrilled when Brenda jilts her fiancé, leaves him standing at the alter, and returns to him. Jade Delarue is happy for Lyle and Brenda. Jade enjoys using her Craft to help others. That night Jade lights a candle and casts a spell for the man Brenda jilted to find true love quickly. Jade hates the thought of the poor man being unhappy. Then Jade decides to light another candle and cast a love spell for herself. She imagines a "Pierce Brosnan clone". It is only later that Jade realized the wax from the two candles had ran together. The two spells have merged.
Mason Kincaid is a private investigator. When he got word, by special messenger at the church, that Brenda had dumped him, he left the church for the nearest bar. But now he and Anthony (the best man) are on a potential life insurance fraud case involving three suspects. Jade is one of "the targets". What better way to keep an eye on Jade than to check in as guests to Mystic Manor, her B&B? Yet Mason soon realizes that Jade is the woman he has been hoping for all his life. Now Mason simply has to make Jade see it too.
**** This story is loaded with humor and romance. Perfect for reading on a rainy evening or to perk up your spirits on a day when all seems to be going wrong. Light-hearted and magical, this story is fabulous. ****

WITCH IN THE HOUSE Paperback version by Jenna McKnight (2007)
In summary- It's dude worthy reading material! Anthony and his friend Mason Kincaid while investigating a million dollar life policy claim, accidentally run across someone accused of practicing the "The Craft", Jade Delarue, she is a witch. Jade is trying to make a living at Mystic Manor and blend into normal society.
HILARIOUS as hell!! especially around trying every way possible to reverse a spell gone a wry all through the book!!
It had me hooked from the first sentence on page one. I could not put it down. Laughing from the beginning. In my opinion, Jenna created her characters in the great tradition as fiction novelist Alice Hoffman (Author of Practical Magic 1995 Novel turned into the 1998 movie). Jeanna's research of Wicca was done in the accuracy and classiness of Constance M. Burge ( Writer, Producer of the television series "Charmed") It is in my opinion, this is a 5 star book. That's what this book should have been classified, and the author classified in the ranks of the authors I mentioned above back in (2007).
Jenna, thank you for a great book!
I LIKE TO KNOW THE PUBLISHED DATE ESPECIALLY IF IT IS A SERIES OR A TRILOGY. LIKE TO PURCHASE IN ORDER AS WRITTEN<<< THERE ARE 2 BOOKS FOLLOWING "WITCH IN THE HOUSE" KNOWN AS "THE WITCHES OF WEST BLUFF SERIES". WRITTEN BY JENNA MCKNIGHT, HOW DO I FIND THEM? DON'T KNOW THE TITLES AND IT MAKES A SEARCH VERY DIFFICULT. LIKE READING PARANORMAL, WITCHES, GHOSTS, MAGIC AND HUMOR. LOADED WITH LAUGHS AND SO ENJOYABLY FUNNY. JENNA MCKNIGHT WRITES VERY COLORFUL AND HER CHARACTERS ARE LOVABLE...
THANK YOU, S. ZARNICK
it could have been better in terms of the love story and witchy spells. Annette Blairs series would be a better choice
I read the description and other reviews and was really looking forward to this book. But it dragged, as in super slow moving. The premise is cute and the writing isn't bad. But there were probably 150 pages that didn't really move the plot forward or do anything for me. I'm not one to put a book aside once I commit to it, but this one really tested me. I almost gave up on it, a few times. It's not bad...just kind of boring for about 1/3 of the pages.
Good storyline-drags a little at times but what story doesn't? Good characters and good climax and lovers are together what could be better. I'd recommend this book. Good light quick read. I bet this author could have a great book if she put a little more meat on the bone.
I absolutely LOVED this book. This is very realistic from the spell & witch practice perspective. It felt like she really understood the depth of what witches, pagans, and those of the paranormal are all about. This book was very charming and I couldn't put it down.
I started reading Jenna's books with "Witch in the House" and then went on to discover more of her writing. She's very fun and keeps you interested throughout.
Jenna, Witchy Fiction needs more writers like you! Please write more - Maybe even take another character from "Witch in the House."
