This one held nothing , they both knew from the start they loved each other. It was a matter of waiting it out so space was filled with a lot of chatter from secondary characters and her relentlessly throwing herself at him . He continually says 'no' and that about all he says he may be the first hero i have read of who hardly spoke throughout the book. In the end when he finally sleeps with her the next day he tell her he will marry her , the end!!? No epilogue. What a nothing there book! Why two stars and not one?I guess there is sth sexy about a hero that says nothing at all broods and scowls but it does wear you down , you could almost feel the authors boredom with writing this one, i mean what are the chances that the two would accidentally fall on each other four times and nothing would happen? Brothers looked after sisters not unattached bachelors , no explanation was ever given why her brother as well as her chaperone continuously deserted her?Convenient super lazy writing !

I really enjoyed At the Bride Hunt Ball, and to a lesser degree To Wed a Wicked Earl, so I'm very disappointed that this book left me so underwhelmed, especially since I really liked Rosalind in the other two books. However, in order to amp up the sexual tension between the hero (Nicholas) and the heroine in this one, Ms. Parker made Rosalind not only TSTL but also too clumsy to live. Every few minutes she was tripping and conveniently falling against the hero. Somehow neither of them are injured by this, just turned on. And really there is no tension because they essentially give into it pretty quickly. That part makes sense, actually, since it's clearly established they've secretly been in love with one another for years. That's really part of the greater problem here. There really was nothing keeping these two apart. And you really see that in the end when none of the hero's supposed inner turmoil is resolved before he proposes. It's all just glossed over. So why even tell the story? This could have been a novella, or even just a side story. As a full length novel, it falls completely flat.
This novel caught my attention from the first page. The first chapter automatically sets you up for the chase. The hero and heroine are so well written that you feel as if you have been dropped right into their lives as an innocent bystander. Rosalind is a young woman whom everyone in society thinks has it all and can do no wrong, but she doesn't have it all - there's just one more thing she wants.
Nicholas for all his good and honorable intentions seems to be doing an incredible job of protecting Rosalind from everyone - except himself. I think the reason for this might be that he's a little posessive.

What really set this book apart for me was the romance. The scenes were so well written that I could feel his hands on me. Not only did I wish I had read this in the freezer but I also read it six times in one week. I am currently wishing I could prevail on the author to write the rest of these two characters story. I know there's more to it. I think if you're a fan of historical romance that this book will be a very entertaining read for you.
Lady Rosalind Devine is a matchmaker. She's the first one to see how well the lively Madelyn would suit her brother, Gabriel, an upright and staid Duke. She also saw how the Earl of Rothbury was in love with Charlotte. She's 24 going on 25, and she's never been even remotely interested in any of her suitors. That's because she's already given away her heart. Nicholas Kincaid is the best friend of her older brother Gabriel. they've grown up together, but Nicholas has never given Rosalind even the slightest hint that he's interested, and Rosalind hasn't spoken a word to him in the fear that he'll reject her overtures. In fact Nicolas has always kept himself buried in the Yorkshire country side. So what's he doing in London now? And especially since Gabriel and his new bride have just left on an extended honeymoon trip? And who is this dreadful guardian Gabriel has arranged to watch over his sister?

I have thoroughly enjoyed Olivia Parker's previous books. I was also really looking forward to this book, because its always interesting to see a matchmaker fall in love herself. Rosalind and Nicholas are very likable characters. They're attracted to each other, but for their own reasons are unwilling to disclose their affections to one another. So they play cat and mouse with each other, all while Rosalind is trying to figure out who it is her brother has left to guard her. It can't be Nicholas since Gabriel told her it wasn't, can't he?

I liked how the story flowed. the intrigue that was thrown in with a suitor who was trying to win the wager regarding Rosalind's hand in marriage was well, but I didn't feel like it was thorough enough. Why was he so desperate to get Rosalind to marry him? And none of the exchanges between this suitor and Rosalind or Nicholas were shared. One scene I really enjoyed the book was where it is revealed what was really going on when Lady Rosalind brained the Earl of Rothbury with a heavy tome. That made me lough out loud. As did other moments through out the book. Olivia Parker has done a great job with this book and I look forward to seeing whose book is next. I wonder if it is Tristan's, and if it is, who is the woman for him?
